Toyota Hilux 5th generation. Toyota Hilux: history and description of the model. Diesel engines Toyota Hilux

Previously, a jeep was considered a purely male car. Even ten years ago, only representatives of the stronger sex dared to drive a huge SUV. But, now, women don't care which car they drive. And the male-only car became the pickup.

In everyday life, you will not find a better helper than this type of car. It is suitable for hunting, fishing and even for transporting furniture. Pickups are marketed as commercial, family and off-road vehicles.

In this article, we would like to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the Toyota Hilux. He interested us not only by his phenomenal popularity among drivers all over the world, but also by the fact that on May 21 of this year his new generation was presented. It happened in a Bangkok car showroom.

So far, the company has sold over 16 million copies. Of course, we are not talking about the new generation, which appeared only in the salons of Thailand, but about all seven issues. The sales geography of this car numbers 180 countries, and its history began 47 years ago.

Representatives of the company promise that at the beginning of next year, the new generation will begin to be sold in South Africa. And this is not strange, because the largest factories in which Toyota Hilux are assembled are located in Thailand and South Africa. But, when the car will reach us, and how much it will cost, is still unknown. By the way, according to the estimates of Russian official dealers, the model still holds the first place in terms of sales in the segment. Over the past year, the Russians bought 6,790 copies of Toyota Hilux.

Toyota Hilux history

The Toyota Hilux first appeared in 1968. This generation was produced until 1972. Then the car was nothing special. She had a conventional cab, a short wheelbase and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The drive was rear-wheel drive. After several improvements, engines appeared in 1.9, 1.6 and two liters. Also, the engineers have increased the wheelbase.

The first generation of the model was replaced in 1972. These pickups were produced until 1978. The car became a little more comfortable in the cabin and received a new gasoline engine with a volume of 2.2 liters.

The third generation came out in 1978 and was produced until 1983. There was added a 2.2-liter engine and a couple of wheelbase options to choose from. The company tested a fiberglass body, which turned out to be very successful.

The fourth generation came out in 1983. It was produced until 1988. This car has become completely different from all other modifications. He received three wheelbase options and a new engine range. Gasoline three-liter and diesel 2.4-liter units became available. Also, instead of the long-standing rigid axle, they began to install an independent suspension. Also, the transmission has changed. She became a four-speed automatic.

From 1988 to 1997, the fifth generation was produced. In terms of technical aspects and external design, it practically copied its predecessor. But, in the engine range, a 2.4-liter diesel engine appeared. And also, the company has built several conveyors for pickup assembly in different countries of the world.

The sixth generation was released from 1997 to 2005. This modification no longer appeared in the United States and Japan, as engineers came up with an analogue for these markets. But, in other countries, the pickup was only gaining more and more popularity.

The seventh modification first came out in 2004. Now the car has been placed in the mid-size class. Two airbags appeared in the cabin, and a 240-horsepower engine began to be installed under the hood. Further, this generation was updated three times, correcting the exterior and technical side of the pickup.

And so, in 2015, the story of the eighth generation began. What has it become? Let's take a look below.

Introducing Toyota Hilux

As already mentioned, the Toyota Hilux is a purely masculine car. This is probably why the engineers and designers of seven generations did not pay due attention to the comfort of the cabin. But, in 2015, they surpassed themselves. The market dictates new conditions, and now no car will become popular without decent upholstery. Even the Toyota Hilux.

Looking inside the pickup, you will not see luxury and expensive Alcantara. But, the smooth hard plastic looks pretty decent and simple. The seats can be adjusted in two directions, and only one position is acceptable for the steering wheel. All the control buttons are huge. They are far enough apart. Therefore, the accuracy of pressing is guaranteed here. At the same time, Japanese accuracy is observed. That is, not a single spare part is skewed and is clearly in its place.

The exterior of the car has been radically updated. It has become more modern. Also, the engineers have updated the technical side of the pickup. Several new motors have appeared. The leaf suspension has been completely redesigned. Also worth noting is the new transmission.

The frame of the pickup truck was increased in thickness and cross-section. The suspension can be of three options, and each has its own type of setting. If you will be driving mainly on asphalt, then Comfort is better. In the case when the car will be used mostly off-road, Heavy duty is offered. And for mixed mode, choose Standard.

The dimensions of the car have been revised. Now its length has been increased by 75 millimeters, and its width by 20 millimeters. Height and wheelbase remain the same. The towing trailer can reach 3.5 tons and the load is 1240 kilograms.

The salon is now spacious and comfortable. It is fully functional as the seats are adjustable as you wish. The back bench can accommodate three people. The doorways, both at the back and at the front, are practically the same.

A Toyota Hilux with a turbodiesel was provided for the test drive. This modification is the most powerful in the lineup, and it produces 171 horsepower with a torque of 360 Nm.

If you think about it, the indicator is not very impressive. But, oddly enough, it is quite suitable for driving on the highway and off-road. The speed is gaining a little "tight". Although, after 80 kilometers per hour, everything changes.

On the track, the car behaves very stable and measured. It is quite predictable. But, on wet asphalt, the axis of the Toyota Hilux is slightly shifted. In this case, the stabilization system almost immediately intervenes, and the situation is corrected. Also, we realized one little trick. If you put a load of 200 kilograms in the trunk, then you can not be afraid of drifts.

On rough roads, you can drive at a fairly high speed. Even in the complete absence of asphalt, 80 - 120 kilometers per hour is not a problem. This is quite a pleasant surprise, since the car weighs about two tons.

With the geometric cross-country ability of the pickup, everything is in order. Therefore, the car feels comfortable off-road. The rear overhang is simply huge, while the front overhang is practically nonexistent. During the ride, there was not a single hole or rise that was beyond the control of the car. Rear-wheel drive overcomes mud up to 20 meters deep. But, in any case, do not stop. Then it will be problematic to get out. Even so, the car is equipped with towing eyes.

The board can open 90 degrees. This will greatly increase the length of the loading dock. Its standard dimensions are 1.5 meters.

When driving around the city, gasoline consumption ranges from 10 to 11 liters per hundred. But, if a massive trailer is installed on the pickup, then the consumption increases. In any case, these figures are very unexpected for such a large car.

The only problem we ran into on the road was parking. In narrow yards, you can easily crash into a nearby vehicle. Although, at night, the rear light will help you, and during the day - the rear view camera.

Technical data Toyota Hilux

The eighth generation Toyota Hilux is equipped with a 2.8-liter engine. It develops a power of 177 horsepower with a torque of 450 Nm. For our market, this setting is not provided. Here you can only find a unit with 171 horsepower and 360 Nm.

The transmission is a six-speed automatic. In the seventh generation of the car, it was five-speed. The drive here, of course, is full. We were very interested in the ESTEC system. It represents thermal combustion fuel economy.

Brief characteristics of Toyota Hilux

  • body: pickup;
  • number of seats: 5;
  • number of doors: 5;
  • curb weight: 1900 kilograms;
  • dimensions: 5255 millimeters long, 1835 millimeters wide and 1810 millimeters high;
  • ground clearance: 212 mm;
  • drive: full;
  • engine displacement: 2.8 liters;
  • motor power: 171 horsepower at 360 Nm of torque;
  • transmission: five-speed automatic;
  • acceleration to hundreds: 13.3 seconds;
  • maximum speed: 170 kilometers per hour;
  • fuel consumption: 7.2 liters on the highway, 10.1 liters in the city, 8.3 liters in total;
  • fuel tank: 80 liters;
  • trunk volume: 1053 liters;
  • cost for the basic configuration: not yet announced

The eighth generation Toyota Hilux has far fewer drawbacks than its predecessor. But, all the same, they are. For starters, it is worth noting the rear axle skid when cornering. Also, I didn't really like the interior trim.
But, to justify the designers and engineers, it should be said that the cabin has become much more comfortable than it was before 2015. So, as before, attention was paid to functionality, and certainly not to the convenience of the driver.

Of the advantages, it is necessary to note the cross-country ability of the pickup. In order to test its driving performance, it was placed in various conditions. It was desert and mountain slopes. The car showed its best side everywhere. Here strength and endurance were combined.

The interior and sound insulation deserve special praise.

The car is very reliable and durable. If you need a comfortable and passable pickup truck that will be functional at the same time, you simply must turn your attention to the Toyota Hilux. According to the results of the test drive, we give the car 4.9 points out of five possible.

Secondary market 02 January 2006 Work tool (Mitsubishi L200, Ford Ranger (Mazda B series), Toyota HiLux)

Even ten years ago, foreign cars with a "pickup" body were purchased only occasionally. And now, apart from people who by the nature of their work (gamekeepers, geologists and oilmen) need a pickup truck, there are more and more people who just like such cars. Or they are being bought as an inexpensive (and theft-safe) alternative to an SUV. Today we will talk about the most affordable and compact pickups on the used car market. These are "Mitsubishi L200", produced since 1997, twin brothers "Mazda" B-series and "Ford Ranger", produced since 1999, as well as "Toyota HiLux" (1998-2006). Real workhorses. They are unpretentious, simple and reliable, quite fast on the asphalt and not afraid of off-road conditions, capable of transporting not only people, but also quite heavy loads. At the heart of all pickups is a strong frame, on which rests a 4-door body with a double cab "Double Cab" for five seats, and the engines are predominantly turbodiesel. All-wheel drive transmission of “Part Time” type without center differential (“4x4” mode can be used only on off-road) with a rigidly connected front axle and a reduction gear. The suspension is a continuous rear axle with springs, and the front is an independent torsion bar with stabilizers. All these cars were officially sold in Europe and Russia at different times.

Toyota 4Runner (aka Hilux Surf) was born in 1984. based on a Toyota pickup (aka Tacoma, Hilux). Since then, 4Ranner has changed 5 generations (Hilux Surf was discontinued on the 5th generation):

  • 1. 1968-88
  • 2. 1988-96
  • 3. 1996-2002.
  • 4. 2002-2009.
  • 5. 2009 - ???
All generations have their own characteristics, but retain their belonging to the "compact SUV" (or compact SUV) category. The characteristic features of the model are a relatively small interior and a very spacious luggage compartment (related to the pickup). All of this is housed in the frame and combined with a robust suspension, engines and transmission.

First generation 1968-88

"The first is the best." This generation of the model has the most outstanding off-road capabilities, and is also the lightest, simplest and most reliable. The body is three-door, with a plastic top. Almost no different from the Hilux pickup. Hinged glass rear sliding door. Fully dependent front and rear suspension until mid-1985. Engines for 4Ranner - 2.4 liter gasoline (22R - 90 hp, 175N / m), for Surf 3Y gasoline, as well as diesel engines 2L (2.4L, 83 hp 165Nm @ 2400) and 2L-T (2.4L turbo, 92 hp 215Nm @ 2400). The continuous front axle is installed until August 1985. After this point, only independent front suspension (IFS) was installed on the 4Runner and Surf. Admirers of 4Ranner, who use the car for its intended purpose (and not for polishing the asphalt), are still forced to correct this manufacturer's mistake by cutting out unnecessary IFS from practically new cars and replacing it with a continuous front axle from the 1st generation or a pickup ... By the way, on Hilux pickups, the continuous front axle lived much longer - almost until the end of 1997. With the change of the front suspension, the 4Runner has an optional 3VZ-E engine (3L 145 hp 245N / m V6 2 valves per cylinder), for Surf - 3Y-E (2L 97 hp 160Nm @ 3800). Transmission - Part Time. Hub hubs. Option 4X2 is possible. The gearbox is mechanical. There are not so many of these cars left, especially in Russia. However, they are very successfully used for the construction of highly lifted and modified SUVs, primarily due to the presence of a fully bridge modification, low weight and of course, the past quality of Toyota. By refusing to produce fully bridge versions of 4Ranner for the USA, Toyota actually stepped on its throat, losing at least 10-15% of the US market in each subsequent generation of the model and giving this part of the market at the mercy of American manufacturers, since the pavement and relatively inexpensive LandCruiser 7X also has not been supplied to the United States since 87. Today, a similar problem already exists in the European and new Russian markets - there are no more Toyota bridge SUVs and pickups there. This is actively used by UAZ, Mercedes and Land Rover.

Second generation 1988-96

This generation represents 90% of the entire European and Russian 4Runner and Surf markets. The new model is radically different from its predecessor. This primarily applies to the front suspension and body. Five-door with an all-metal roof, the new body looks quite modern, the interior is richer with various options (velor, leather, sunroof). At the same time, a 3-door model is also produced in a new all-metal body, which is quite rare. There are all the necessary "comfortable" options such as a full email. package, air conditioner, el. mirrors, etc. The famous tailgate is born - a lowering type (opening like on a pickup) with an automatic window regulator. In 1992, a light restyling of the body was made, which mainly affected the front and rear lights, dimensions, turn signals and the radiator grill.
Unfortunately, the front suspension is only an independent torsion bar, however, it is very reliable (especially in comparison with the Terrano1 classmate). As mentioned earlier, the front IFS is often replaced with a dependent suspension from the first generation (clearly visible in the pictures). With proper maintenance, the IFS 4Ranner can withstand serious loads (heavy off-road, transporting and towing loads, "active" driving style on asphalt).
The most common engine is the petrol injection 3VZ-E. The good old 4-cylinder 22R is updated to the 22R-E and gets 115 hp and 190 N / m. This engine is also very common (especially in the USA). Also, since 1992, a new diesel 1KZ-T appears (125 forces 300N / M @ 2000rpm, 3L turbo).
The transmission received changes, but remained Part Time. Option 4X2 is possible. Transmission - mechanic or automatic. The rear axles are mainly LSD (friction type - speed sensitive). A very useful innovation - the Toyota A.D.D. system. - this is the absence of the notorious hub couplings. By means of an electro-pneumatic drive, the left half-shaft of the front axle is opened. At the same time, the axle gearbox is actually stopped and does not create resistance to movement, however, the diffu planetary wheel constantly rotates and lubricates the entire gearbox.
The front-wheel drives are very reliable. In conjunction with the hub, the 4Ranner uses bronze sleeve bushings instead of a needle bearing. The bushings themselves can handle much heavier loads under severe conditions than a reasonable size bearing for the assembly. The service life of these bushings is quite long - if there is the required amount of the correct lubricant in the hub unit, they run more than 100 tons. Km. Naturally, in the absence of lubrication, beating and other malfunctions, they die. But in such a situation, the bearing will die just as well. The cost of the sleeve is around $ 6.
A huge number of aftermarket products are produced for the 2nd generation 4Runner. These are all kinds of Body and Suspension Lift Kits, Diff Locks, LSD Diffs, bumpers, snorkels, transmission parts, etc. from serious manufacturers: ARB, Superlift, Performance Accessories, Trac Tech, Trail Master, etc. This generation of Runners, like the first, is very often used in the USA and other countries for the construction of heavily lifted and modified SUVs.

Third generation 1996-2002

Since 1996 the third generation 4Runner (or Hilux Surf) appears. As with the last generation change, Toyota offers us a completely redesigned platform. The body is slightly larger, more "puffy" and modern. A more spacious and rich interior with various options. Unfortunately, with this change, 4Runner generations were no longer supplied to Europe. Instead, the so-called Land Cruiser 90 went to Europe, the essence of which consists only in a different body (higher), which Toyota "pulled" on the chassis from the 3rd generation Hilux Surf or 4Runner. This step by Toyota was apparently caused by the fact that in the poorer (in comparison with the American and Arab) European market, it was necessary to create competition for Pajero, since the LandCruiser 80 (100) was more expensive and more, and the 4Runner was cheaper, but less. Pajero occupied an intermediate niche between compact and full-size SUVs. The LandCruiser 90 was very competitive for Pajero, since it was similar in size and parameters to the latter. The suspension has been completely redesigned and is generally softer. The front IFS becomes spring-loaded and more "gentle" in comparison with the torsion-bar IFS, however, the decision for building a full-fledged SUV remains the same - replacing IFS with Solid Axle.
The transmission received a lockable center differential as part of a multi-mode transfer case that combines FULL TIME 4WD mode plus the ability to disable the front axle (multi mod 4WD, analogue of Padger's Superselect). The good old Part Time and 4X2 modifications are also possible. Optional rear interwheel locks: rigid and LSD.
New engines: 5VZ-FE - 24 valve petrol V6 (3.4l 185 forces 300 N / m) is replacing the 3VZ-E. The four-cylinder 3RZ-FE engine (16-valve, 2.7L 150 hp, 240N / m) replaces the 22R-E. For right-handed people (Hilux Surf), 1KZ-TE diesels come to replace 1KZ-TE - 130 forces, and 1KZ-Ti 3 liters turbo intercooler - 145 forces, 345N / M @ 2000 rpm. In the last years of production, the newest diesel engine has appeared - 1KD-FTV - 16 valves, 4 cylinders, direct inject (D4D), 3 liters, turbo intercooler - 170 forces, 352N / M @ 1500 rpm. This engine will be installed on the 4th generation of the model. None of the diesels are shipped to the US. Accordingly, since 1996, the 4Runner has been diesel in the Hilux Surf version, that is, with a right-hand drive. The only exceptions are the 4Runner models of the third and fourth generations with left-hand drive, supplied by Toyota to Europe for the UN and NATO (they are not on free sale - only decommissioned).

Fourth generation 2002-2009.

The car has become even larger and more modern. New body design, new suspension, new engines. The updated LC120 is also supplied to Europe, which is already quite close in design and body dimensions to the 4Ranner. The Lexus GX470 is also being produced for the first time on the chassis of the new Hilux Surf (4Runner, LC120).
The suspension of the new 4Ranner has been completely redesigned. The front IFS remains spring-loaded, the rear dependent five-link spring. Latest active X-reas system (optional). Completely new transmission FULL TIME or MULTI MOD 4WD. Center differential TORSEN with blocking. Option 4X2 is possible. New engines: 4 liters 24 valves V6 VVTi 245 forces gasoline, 4.7 liters 32 valves V8 235 forces gasoline (VVT-i modification V8 for 275 forces since 2004). Old 3.4L petrol and 1KD-FTV diesel are also available on the Surf. A large number of auxiliary electronics appeared, in the form of automatic ascent and descent systems, Active TRAC, etc. The most interesting and rich versions of the car are the 4Runner V8 Limited or the Lexus GX470.

Fifth generation 2009 - ???

The worldwide reduction in the cost of the car industry has not spared Toyota either. Unfortunately, the latest line of Toyota SUVs does not shine with design delights - all cars have the same soapy and boring design ala "I blinded him from what was," clearly prepared for a very modest budget and hastily. But this is only half the trouble. Quite serious reductions in prices have also affected the mechanical part of the car. The most obvious problem was the refusal to use massive, but reliable and time-tested transmission actuators (transfer case control, differential locks, etc.). Now the actuators use cheap "micro-switches", which fail quite quickly (apparently due to their manufacture in China), as a result of which the unit ceases to function normally, for example - the transfer case controller turns on emergency mode and forcibly sets the RC to neutral - you need tow truck ...... Also, doubts are caused by the aluminum body of the front axle, an abundance of cheap plastic body parts and trim.

Particular attention can be paid to the mediocre range of the offered complete sets and, as usual, to the "marketing curve". The body of the new Prado is almost completely identical to the 4Ranner (both in size and design). Apparently, therefore, with this change of generation, the Hilux Surf model has ceased to be produced. Only the design of the bumpers, front grille, headlights and lanterns is slightly different. The same goes for the new GX460, which remains the only platform to be powered by a V8 engine. On the 4Ranner, only the V6 1GR-FE is installed, equipped with an independent twin-shaft VVT-i. The maximum power increased to 270 hp, the maximum torque value decreased slightly and shifted upwards by 600 rpm. Diesel remained only on Prado and pickups. It seems that Toyota is gradually narrowing its line of compact SUVs, aiming to come to one model. All-wheel drive types offered are Full Time and Part Time only. Multymod has also disappeared from the model. For some unknown reason, you cannot buy the 4Runner in the Limited trim with a rigid rear diff lock - it is only available in the Trail trim. BUT !, there can only be Part Time in the Trail package. One involuntarily recalls the film "Deja Vu", where John Polak was offered a choice of "cutlets with potatoes" and "meatballs with rice" in the soviet canteen. When Polak asked for meatballs with potatoes, he was sharply reminded of the menu configuration ..... Then his companion whispered to take two options, and then exchange side dishes. But the waiter also cut off this sentence, saying: - "IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to change !!!" In general, some kind of nonsense ...... You can find out more about it on the website

Hilux "debuted back in 1967. Initially, this car was produced exclusively for the domestic market of Japan, and only in 2005 it was presented to European motorists, and since 2010 it began to be sold in Russia. From 1967 to 2004, 5 generations of this model, and the sixth generation Toyota Hilux debuted in the spring of 2005. Production of this model began in four countries at once: South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia and Argentina.

The main difference between the new Toyota Hilux is a reinforced spar frame, modernized front and rear suspensions, and a more economical engine. The pickup truck is available with three types of cabins: single, extended and double. The length of the car has increased by 340 mm, now it is 5130 mm. The wheelbase was increased to 3,085 mm, which made it possible to increase the interior space in the cabin and in the car body. The increase in the wheelbase is reflected in the car's driving experience - it has become more comfortable. Compared to previous generations, the new Hilux "has significantly improved build quality: the panels, made of high-strength steel with an applied anti-corrosion coating, fit closer to each other, the gaps between them are reduced to 4-5 mm. Due to the aerodynamic shape, fuel consumption is reduced and reduced wind noise when driving.

The Double Cab version of the pickup can comfortably accommodate five people. The rear seats have become longer, it is now possible to change the backrest tilt. Added adjustable headrests. It became possible to fold the rear seat, which increases the volume of the luggage compartment. The salon is decorated with quality materials, the upper part of the cab is covered with a special shockproof coating.

The 2005 Hilux model came with a five-speed manual gearbox, and as an option it was possible to order the device Pickups were produced in the form of full-fledged SUVs and economical 4x2 versions.

Since 2006, turbo diesel engines with a volume of 3 liters and a capacity of 171 liters have been installed on all-wheel drive versions with a four-door cab. With. These engines worked with both five-speed manual and four-speed automatic transmissions. With "mechanics" the pickup can reach speeds of up to 170 km / h, and with "automatic" - up to 175 km / h. Fuel consumption was 8.3 liters per hundred kilometers.

Toyota Hilux is supplied to the Russian market with two types of diesel engines: direct fuel injection and turbocharged. Unit with a volume of 2.5 liters with a capacity of 144 liters. With. equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, and the one with 3.0 liters and 171 liters. sec., - a five-speed automatic gearbox. Both models are equipped with four-wheel drive and a front differential cut-off system. In the combined cycle, fuel consumption for a 2.5 liter engine is 8.3 liters per hundred kilometers, and for a 3.0 liter engine - 8.9 liters per hundred.

In 2013, Toyota introduced the updated Hilux New SUV. Increased ground clearance, reinforced suspension, increased frame and body strength - these are the characteristics of the new Toyota Hilux model. Reviews of motorists about this car differ, because how many people, so many opinions. But they all boil down to the fact that the Hilux pickup is an unpretentious "hard worker". Especially good for cross-country driving, economical and reliable.

The last thing to look out for is the price. "Toyota Hilux" in car dealerships in Russia costs from 1,090,000 rubles (with a 2.5-liter engine) and from 1,408,500 rubles (with a 3-liter engine). The final price for the car will depend on the configuration you choose.

The "first" two-door pickup Toyota Hilux was produced from 1968 to 1972. The car was equipped with engines 1.5, 1.6, 1.9, 2.0 in combination with a four-speed manual transmission.

2nd generation, 1972-1978

The second generation Toyota Hilux was produced from 1972 to 1978. The car was offered with engines of 1.6, 2.0 and 2.2 liters and was completed with four- and five-speed "mechanics".

3rd generation, 1978-1983

The third generation Toyota Hilux appeared in 1978. Now the car was offered with a four-door pickup body. The engine chain was supplemented with 1.8 and 2.4 engines, and a version equipped with a 2.2-liter diesel unit was also offered. Models with a three-speed automatic transmission appeared on sale. The release of the "third" Toyota Hilux was completed in 1983.

4th generation, 1983-1988

The fourth generation Toyota Hilux was produced from 1983 to 1988. The car was also offered as a two- and four-door pickup truck and was equipped with gasoline engines volumes from 1.6 to 3.0 liters or diesel engines 2.2 and 2.4. The model was completed with four and five-speed "mechanics" or three- and four-speed "automatic".

5th generation, 1988-1997

The fifth generation Toyota Hilux was produced from 1988 to 1997. The model was still offered with a pickup body. The car was equipped with diesel and gasoline engines of various sizes in combination with a four- and five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed "automatic".

6th generation, 1997-2005

The sixth generation of Toyota Hilux cars, released in 1997, was equipped with a wide range of engines, both gasoline and diesel. However, only versions with a five-speed "mechanics" and a four-speed automatic transmission were offered for sale. The sixth generation models were discontinued in 2005.

7th generation, 2004–2015

The seventh generation Toyota Hilux pickup truck debuted in 2004, the cars were produced at factories in Thailand, Argentina, Pakistan, South Africa and the Philippines. Also on the basis of "Hilux" SUVs and

In 2011, the model was restyled, at the same time official deliveries of the car to Russia began. In our market, only versions with a double cab and an all-wheel drive transmission with a rigidly connected "front end" and a reduction gear were offered.

Toyota Hilux for the Russian market was equipped with a 2.5-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 144 hp. With. and a five-speed "mechanics" or a three-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 171 liters. With. and a five-speed "automatic". Pickup prices started at 1.4 million rubles (in 2015).
