“This is the one that Bolat Nazarbayev arranged!” Mayra Nazarbayeva in New York Who and how threatened Bolat Nazarbayev

Bolat Nazarbayev's ex-wife Mayra Kurmangaliyeva was taken to Kazakhstan and is under house arrest. The newspaper ADAM bol writes about this.

The publication writes that a trial is ahead, and “even today we can safely say that the trial will beat all ratings in terms of scandalousness.”

The publication also writes that Mayra Kurmangaliyeva may face claims for millions of dollars, for which two apartments on Wall Street were purchased, and may also be “incriminated against the story of the illegal privatization of the Almaty Heavy Engineering Plant (AZTM), fraud, extortion, arbitrariness, including kidnapping person."

“Apparently, this is why Mayra Kurmangalieva has been seeking political asylum in the United States in recent years. For this purpose, she married an Azerbaijani businessman Zaur Abdullayev, according to some sources, belonging to the Ergenikon group, an organization in Turkey accused of attempting a coup,” writes ADAM bol.

The material also contains excerpts from Mayra Kurmangaliyeva’s letter to Bolat Nazarbayev:

“Dear, beloved Bolat Abishevich. I regret many actions, understand correctly, a loving wife does the wrong things and is guided by emotions. Having returned home, I hoped for your understanding, participation and those feelings that matter between us today. We have a son growing up who bears your last name and your blood flows in his veins, who loves us both - both me and you. And whose future should we care about... I am ready to agree to all your conditions in the name of the future of our son and his well-being, the well-being of the family. I ask you, do not listen to people who want to profit from this situation with all their might. I repeat once again - I made many mistakes, for which I apologize to you.”

“For now, she (Mayra Kurmangalieva) was hidden from the eyes of the public and the press in the “interests of the investigation.” Perhaps, in the near future, her defender, the well-known lawyer Serik Sarsenov, will highlight the issue,” concludes ADAM bol.

He accuses her of embezzling a New York apartment worth $20 million.

Kurmangalieva's son, Daniyar Kesikbaev, is declared as a co-defendant in the lawsuit (according to the Reporter publication, this is Kurmangalieva's son from a previous marriage). The plaintiff believes that Daniyar and Maira were in conspiracy.

Mayra Kurmangalieva

The apartment in question is located in the building of the fashionable Plaza Hotel (which houses both hotel rooms and private apartments). The president's brother purchased it in early 2008. At the same time, he instructed his then wife Mayra and stepson Daniyar to register the apartment in his name. However, Daniyar, as follows from the lawsuit, registered the housing in his mother’s name, and then fictitiously “sold” it to himself for zero dollars.

Bolat Nazarbayev's lawsuit also alleges that his stepson bought two apartments on Wall Street worth two million dollars each with his stepfather's money.

Plaza Hotel, New York

The president's brother, according to The New York Post, is demanding the return of the Plaza Hotel apartment, as well as money for the Wall Street apartments mentioned.

Bolat Nazarbayev was married to Mayra Kurmangaliyeva from 2001 to 2011.

Even before the divorce, Kurmangalieva, as the Vremya newspaper wrote, was interested in law enforcement agencies. So, at the beginning of 2010, she was taken to the financial police in connection with a criminal case of fraud with shares of the Almaty Heavy Engineering Plant (according to the publication, it was assumed that the enterprise was re-registered in Kurmangaliyeva’s name using forged powers of attorney).

And in the fall of 2011, it became known that Kurmangalieva was put on the international wanted list. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, she was accused of fraud, extortion and arbitrariness, as well as kidnapping.

Villa ABVO, Cannes

“The Manhattan branch of the Supreme Court of the State of New York received a lawsuit from Bolat Nazarbayev, the younger brother of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The plaintiff claims that his ex-wife Mayra (née Kurmangalieva) and her son Daniyar defrauded him of an apartment in the Plaza Hotel building, which costs $20 million.

The lawsuit says the mother and son plotted to defraud him in 2008 when he was looking for an apartment in New York. As a result, Bolat Nazarbayev chose a condominium on the 18th floor of the Plaza on Central Park South, and then Myra and her son convinced him to give them the power of signature on financial documents (power of attorney) when executing this transaction. “Daniyar and Mayra assured Bolat that the only legal act of this would be to register the apartment in the Plaza in his name without having to call him from Kazakhstan to the United States to do this and give them the right to pay for the maintenance of the apartment,” the lawsuit says.

While Bolat and Myra were married, he had no reason to believe that mother and son decided to abuse his trust. The lawsuit further states that Daniyar should have registered the apartment only in his father’s name, but he included his mother in the documents, and eight months later, using the right to sign, he re-registered the condominium in his name. The lawsuit emphasizes that Daniyar did not have the right to do this, since the power of attorney prohibits a family member of the owner from receiving more than 12 thousand dollars a year on his behalf. Later, Bolat Nazarbayev learned that his stepson had bought himself two apartments at 55 Wall Street for his father’s four million dollars. The plaintiff demands that his apartment in the Plaza and $4 million be returned to him, as well as payment for the damage incurred.

Bolat Nazarbayev married Mayra in July 2001, but then, according to him, he learned that she was not at all who she said she was, that she had several surnames and was wanted by Interpol. Then, Bolat Nazarbayev writes in the lawsuit, he learned that Mayra was wanted in Kazakhstan for various crimes, including kidnapping and threats of physical violence while trying to extort money from a businessman. It was not possible to establish where Mayra Nazarbayeva-Kurmangaliyeva is, but Daniyar is not hiding from anyone and recently became engaged to the daughter of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.”

For our part, we can add that we managed to find Bolat Nazarbayev’s statement of claim on the website of the Manhattan Court - [...], but we allowed ourselves to pull out from it only the power of attorney itself, according to which the malicious deception was allegedly committed.

Pay attention to the place of PERMANENT residence of the brother of the President of Kazakhstan - New York, Madison Avenue. That is, Bolat’s lawyers indicated his New York address, not particularly caring about how ambiguous the phrase “New York resident Nazarbayev” sounds.

Below we present the same controversial power of attorney and in a pdf file - Bolat Nazarbayev’s statement of claim (in English).

Dubious documents of Kurmangalieva's son Daniyar

Daniyar Nazarbayev

Life is a difficult thing, but fun. Only recently I had the opportunity to tell a story about the Russian Liberal Democratic Party deputy Ashot Yeghiazaryan, who made his mark in our area, who fled from charges of fraud from Moscow and now, in California, is playing the fool of the second Khodorkovsky and demanding political asylum. And here is an equally entertaining story about the Kazakh boy Daniyar Nazarbayev. Also complicated... Ridiculously.

In 2006, a young citizen of sovereign Kazakhstan, Daniyar Nazarbayev, arrived in New York. He appeared, illuminated by a sonorous surname and showered with immeasurable money, with which the local seasoned public immediately made a stand, sensing an easy prey.

In October 2006, the New York Post reported that Daniyar Nazarbayev, described in the publication as “the son of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev,” had purchased a pair of apartments at 55 Wall Street. One of the two-bedroom apartments cost $2.9 million, and the one below, which has only one bedroom, cost $2.1 million. I don’t know if this is true or gossip, but the press reported that “President Nazarbayev personally visited the house while at the UN summit, and then, apparently, approved the purchase.” It smelled like a lot of money.

Among the first people who wanted to join the new money were consultants from the company Ivy Success; they undertook $200,000 to help a visiting young man enter one of the eight universities included in the Ivy League - either Harvard or Yale... Even so, the amount is still unfathomable. It was essentially about tutoring, the standard price of which was 50 bucks per hour for one hundred hours a month. They probably wouldn’t have asked for more if it weren’t for the applicant’s royal family. Apparently, not only the New York Post decided that Daniyar is the son of the most eternal president of Kazakhstan. The newly-minted prince was mysteriously silent, which only confirmed the gossip about his royal origin.

The consultants from Ivy Success, having received their $200,000, for some reason lost interest in the young man and stopped loving him for this money, declaring that he was not suitable for Ivy League universities. The money, however, was not returned, which became the subject of legal proceedings. In those days, the American press had fun, drawing parallels between the cinematic idiot from Kazakhstan “Barat” and very real Kazakhs - Daniyar and his mother Mayra Nazarbayeva, who got screwed over a simple matter. However, Daniyar turned out to be a persistent guy, he finally entered the “Ivy” Columbia University and is days away from graduating.

And this is where the fun begins. Because Daniyar Nazarbayev turned out to be not Nazarbayev at all, but his documents on secondary education, which provided the basis for admission to the university, are pure bullshit. At the same time, his mother Mayra also does not quite have a sonorous surname, and Kazakh law enforcement agencies themselves dreamed of communicating with her, since her various life adventures continually came into conflict with Kazakh laws. In general, the cinematic Kazakh Barat is resting...

Let's start with Daniyar. By the time he entered Columbia University, he had two educational documents - a Diploma from Leysin American School (Switzerland), issued in 2005, which did not give him the right to study at the university, because it was incomplete, and a high school diploma, issued in the same 2005 year at a secondary school (gymnasium) in the small town of Talkara in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan. Don’t ask me how it was possible to study in Switzerland and Kazakhstan at the same time - I don’t know. Ask Daniyar - he is already a bachelor in five minutes and can dispel doubts.

All this strongly smacks of fraud, because the leadership of that same Kazakh school knows nothing about its graduate with the royal surname, and the Swiss confirmed that Daniyar’s diploma is not complete. I don’t know how it is in Switzerland, but in the post-Soviet space for fifty bucks in those days you could buy an absolutely legal form of any document confirming graduation from an educational institution - from vocational school to Moscow State University. And for an additional bribe, even with “true” seals and entry into the appropriate registration books of these educational institutions. [...]

And with the bachelor’s last name, not everything is going smoothly either. According to the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan, this surname was taken away from him by decision of the relevant authorities as acquired illegally, and all his documents, including his passport, were disavowed back in February 2010. It turns out that since that day he has been in the United States using illegal documents.

For his last name and for all the transformations on this occasion, Daniyar can thank his mother, nee Mayra Kurmangalieva. It was she who lured Bolat Nazarbayev, a real relative (they say that he was a brother) of the Kazakh president, into her ladies’ network and married him, forgetting in a hurry to divorce her previous husband D. Kesikbaev, whose last name Daniyar bore until he registered his second one birth certificate with the surname Nazarbayev. Legends are made about this lady in Kazakhstan - about her resourcefulness, disdainfulness and indifference to the laws.

A boy named Daniyar with an incomprehensible surname turned out to be no less nimble in matrimonial matters than his mother. There are rumors that he has charmed Nooryana Najwa, the daughter of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and is about to enter into legal marriage with her. And what? The guy is prominent, he has a lot of money, the last name is so breathtaking... Although, if I were a Malaysian dad, just in case, I would still check to see if Daniyar had previously been in some kind of youthful marriage. An apple from an apple tree, you know... And Alma-Ata is still a city of apples and apple trees. [...]

Mayra Nazarbayeva-Kurmangalieva (right), her eldest son Daniyar with his bride and youngest son Khanbolat

[respublika-kaz.info, 09.30.2011, “Will Kazakhmys be divided between Maira and Bolat?”: It’s been a while since we retold Astana rumors, somehow we didn’t get around to it. [...]

We will start with the former relative of the head of state, Mayra Kurmangaliyeva. After a very scandalous divorce, she ceased to be the wife of Nursultan Abishevich’s brother, Bolat, and received freedom, which she did not want at all, and her maiden name. Together with her, her first son, Daniyar, also lost the right to kinship with the most important family in Kazakhstan. [...]

According to our information, Mayra Kurmangalieva, as an ex-wife, demanded that half of her ex-husband’s property be given to her, filing a lawsuit against him in the United States. And this half includes you know what? Kazakhmys shares worth $1 billion.

According to the assurances of some informed persons, it was Bolat Nazarbayev who registered a large block of shares in Kazakhmys, estimated today at $2 billion. It is clear that these securities did not belong to him, but to... you know who. But this is the whole joke of the situation!

If Ms. Kurmangaliyeva had been in Kazakhstan, she would have been quickly brought to her senses. But she has long since disappeared abroad, where she and her son have multi-million dollar real estate in New York, Dubai and the Cote d'Azur. She is not going to return to Kazakhstan, since, according to the Kazakh press, about six criminal cases have been opened against her here.

They say that when “you know who” was informed that he could lose half of his Kazakhmys shares, he became so furious that he promised to tear off the heads of everyone who made such a mistake. But the problem is that Mayra Kurmangalieva filed a lawsuit in the United States, where the courts are incorruptible. Moreover, they, as a rule, always take the side of abandoned wives. — Insert K.ru]

Leonid Komarovsky

I appeal to all the people to relatives, friends, and comrades: take care of your name and honor. You are always visible, and by your behavior people often judge the President and the authorities" (From N.A. Nazarbayev’s address to the citizens of Kazakhstan on the fight against corruption. “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda”, July 11, 1998).

“This is the one that Bolat Nazarbayev arranged” is the title of an article in the Kazakh language published in the Azat newspaper on July 22, 2005. under the heading “Without the wind, the top of the grass will not sway.” The article is great. It was written from the words of eyewitnesses, using various rumors about the Nazarbayev family that have long been circulated in society, overgrown, as usual in such cases, with all sorts of guesses, assumptions, and reasoning. Considering that the main thing in every publication is the fact, we decided to convey to the reader the essence of the matter in the presentation, leaving him the opportunity to reflect on it and make his own judgment.

As the author Zhumash Kokbor writes (Obviously - this is a pseudonym - M.A.), at one time the people, as an obvious and indisputable fact, discussed Bolat’s closeness with the wonderful singer Madina Yeralieva. Kazakhs joke among themselves:

“An Uzbek gets rich and builds a house, a Kazakh gets rich and brings new wives.” Knowledgeable people say that as soon as Madina Eralieva, who was killed in a car accident, was buried in the ground, Bolat found himself a young woman. It’s not the ears’ fault that they heard this news: “After the allotted time, the young woman was safely delivered as a round-cheeked boy. Bolat Nazarbayev named his son Khanbolat.”

This name consists of two independent words: Khan and Bolat. The last one is his own name. And together they give the assumption “Khan bolada”, i.e. “He will be khan.”

In honor of the birth of Khanbolat, Bolat Nazarbayev, on one July day, in the beautiful Kegen gorge “Shogan Sai”, where the young woman comes from, organized such a grandiose party that, looking at the scale, one might say, he threw the moon into the sky. Hundreds of yurts were installed to receive guests, and 9 Jeeps and 8 Zhigulis were put up for prizes in horse racing alone. Three helicopters circled in the sky above the guests, dropping banknotes in denominations of... 5 thousand tenge. It is difficult to guess and retell how much of what was eaten and drunk.

The festive cortege started from Suinbay Avenue in Almaty, and was guarded by police all the way to Shogan Say. But her strength, apparently, was not enough to ensure order and safety for the walking public. Border guards were called to help. It was just not clear who was feared and who needed to be protected.

There were no others nearby. A natural question arises: what ancestors left Nazarbayev such an incalculable legacy?

There is no answer to this question. I, a translator of someone else’s article, can already confirm this. Even documented, referring to Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev himself - our president and elder brother Bolat Nazarbayev. I didn’t want to say anything on my own, remaining only a translator of the shortest translation of someone else’s article, where every fact is already striking. But it was too tempting to say why Bolat Abishevich Nazarbayev came into perestroika and our so-called market economy. With what material and intellectual baggage?

We know Nursultan Abishevich: the head of the government of the republic, then the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.

In an interview with the correspondent of one of the most popular magazines of the Soviet period, “Friendship of Peoples,” N. Nikishin in the September 1987 issue. Nursultan Nazarbayev said: “...in all the years I have not received as many anonymous letters as I have received since April 1985, after I dared to speak out against the then leadership. Everything came upstairs, my every step was under control. My brother works on a state farm as a worker, a mechanic - a plumber. Three children, wife works in the canteen. People were sent there too, they measured my brother’s house down to the centimeter, trying to prove that the house was built illegally, that building standards were not followed, that my brother took advantage of my position to circumvent the law...

Question. And what did you manage to “find out?”

Answer. Everything was according to the law, my brother didn’t have a single extra meter!”

Judging by the publication of the Azat newspaper, over the past 18 years Bolat Nazarbayev has confused what is superfluous and what is not. It’s only the poor majority of the people who count everything so as not to spend the extra tenge before their next paycheck and pension. Our ears hear a lot, where does Bolat Nazarbayev get so much money from? But our lips are closed so as not to bring trouble to our own heads.

eurasiaorgru Mayra Nazarbayeva appeared in New York

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Eileen Branstein demanded guarantees from the brother of Kazakh President Bolat Nazarbayev. In particular, that his ex-wife Mayra Nazarbayeva will not be arrested again upon returning from New York to Kazakhstan. The New York Post writes about this. Let us recall that in March of this year in New York, in a Manhattan court, Bolat Nazarbayev’s lawyer sought from Judge Eileen Branstein to force Mayra Nazarbayeva to enter into an agreement on the division of property, despite the fact that she was under house arrest in Kazakhstan.

The judge refused. And on May 6, Myra appeared in Manhattan court after being released from house arrest in Kazakhstan.

She looked, according to the publication, chic: “Wearing a top from Oscar de al Rent and platform shoes with an open toe from Louis Vuitton.” However, the judge was not embarrassed by her chic appearance.

The New York Post writes that Eileen Branstein said: “Despite the so-called cessation of criminal prosecution of Ms. Nazarbayeva, I would like stronger assurances that these charges will not be brought against her again when she returns home.”

Let us remember that Mayra Nazarbayeva was placed under house arrest last winter after she was charged with kidnapping and blackmailing victims.

“I think that we should discuss such guarantees before signing the final agreement between the parties,” the judge said.

The Kazakh oligarch's lawyer, John Snyder, insists that his client Bolat Nazarabayev is an ordinary citizen and does not have the ability to interfere with the criminal prosecution of his ex-wife in Kazakhstan.

Maira, speaking during the trial in Russian through an interpreter, told the judge of her intention to return to Kazakhstan, where her 12-year-old son is.

“From my point of view, the threat to the child in this case is quite obvious and it puts pressure on Mayra Nazarbayeva,” the judge admitted.

According to the text of the agreement, which Myra's lawyer opposes, she gives up real estate in New York (a luxury apartment in New York in the Plaza Hotel building worth $20 million and an apartment on Wall Street worth $3 million), as well as an apartment with an ocean view in Miami worth $5 million. In addition, according to the agreement, she must waive alimony in favor of herself and her son Bolat. In return, Bolat's ex-wife, who filed for divorce from her without her consent, will receive a house in New Jersey worth $20 million.

Judge Bransteen would like Myra to testify in Russian under oath through an interpreter before she approves the agreement. But so far the parties have not yet reached an agreement regarding the property in Cannes. The judge gave them two more weeks to reach an agreement. Then, perhaps, the scandalous division of foreign real estate of the brother of the President of Kazakhstan will be put to rest.
