We will show you how you can make a powerful air pistol or rifle with your own hands. She will shoot with ordinary lead bullets, which you can freely buy. First we need a metal tube, in our case it is cut from the radiator of an old refrigerator. If desired, you can use a plastic tube, the main thing is that it is rigid and does not bend. When choosing, pay attention to the inner diameter of the tube, it must match the diameter of the bullet. Since the bullets are different by 4.5 mm. and 5.5 mm. Next, we need a wooden block, a screw, a piece of rubber (we cut it from a car camera), two fittings, a 0.5 liter plastic bottle.

First of all, we must make a hole 5-6 cm deep in a wooden block:

The first hole is already ready for us, we move on to the second, on the side in a wooden bar we make another hole to the middle. Be sure to note that the diameter of the drill and the metal tube were the same:

So, in the first hole we will have the barrel of an air rifle installed, in the second a trigger, in the third a fitting and a bottle of compressed air. We expand the third hole on the side a little to fit the diameter of the fitting (to the middle), we will not need the upper part, so we will seal it with hot glue. We install two fittings in the upper and lower parts of the bottle:

Let's start assembling our weapons, first we glue the muzzle. We twist the fitting from a plastic bottle to half a wooden bar, it turns out that we will twist it to the full thread:

Seal the top hole. Our homemade air pistol (rifle) is almost ready, it remains to make the trigger. We cut a strip from the gum and screw a screw into the middle. We insert the screw into the hole, glue everything around the rubber band with hot glue so that air does not leak out. To shoot, insert the bullet into the muzzle and push it through with a barbecue skewer. We pump air into a plastic bottle. In the bar, the screw rests against the spool, when you press it, the air is released and goes through the tube, pushing our bullet. It turned out to be a very powerful pneumatic pistol that was assembled by hand from improvised materials.

It is unlikely that anyone will refuse to shoot with a pneumatic pistol - after all, this is an exciting activity that gives drive and fills the blood with adrenaline. However, not everyone has such a thing, because good pneumatics are not cheap, and there is no desire to buy bad ones. However, if you have hands and a head on your shoulders, then you can make such a gun with your own hands.

By the way, you won’t have to spend money on components especially - they are nearby, at your side. And first you need to understand what and how it works.

Operating principle

We have a bullet (usually 4.5 mm in caliber), which, in order to hit the target, must fly out of the barrel at a certain speed. And this acceleration gives her a stream of compressed air, obtained by one of the methods that determine the design of the gun:

  • If the air flow is created by straightening the cocked spring pushing the piston, then we have - spring-piston device (PPP). It is on this principle that children's toy guns sold in stores work. This design is quite simple and reliable. One download allows you to fire one shot.
  • If there is a tank for compressed air, then our gun belongs to the type of pneumatic with pre-injection (PCP). Shots in this case, you can make a whole series (their number depends on the volume of the tank).
  • The gas gun runs on carbon dioxide, which, expanding, pushes the bullet. A can of CO2 compressed under high pressure is connected to a special chamber, the valve of which opens briefly when the trigger is pressed. The outgoing portion of carbon dioxide pushes the bullet. Shots from one spray can be made from 40 to 50.

We make a gun from everything that is at hand

Basically, craftsmen prefer to invent pistols of either the PPP type or the PCR type. Fortunately, for the latter, you can use ordinary plastic bottles. And metal-plastic pipes gave a lot of useful details in the form of tees and adapters. The barrel (one of the most important parts of the gun) is made from cocktail tubes, refrigerator radiators, antennas, ballpoint pens or felt-tip pens. By the way, this all fits the caliber 4.5 mm.

The barrel is selected according to the diameter of the bullets - they should go into it tutelka in tutelka, but not very tight. Otherwise, the air force will not be enough to push them out.

We make a "pneumat" from a bottle

There are many options for this, but many of them involve shooting by squeezing the bottle. We will consider one of the ways how to make a gun with a trigger. He shoots bullets from an air gun.

Stock up:

  1. a plastic bottle with a capacity of 0.5 liters;
  2. a piece of rubber from a bicycle tube;
  3. hot glue;
  4. two fittings from the camera of a car or bicycle;
  5. screw;
  6. a small wooden block (this will be the handle);
  7. a tube from the refrigerator radiator (this will be the trunk).

We drill a hole vertically in the bar, deepening by 5-6 centimeters. From the side, we drill another hole a little higher (to the middle of the bar) - its diameter should match the diameter of the trunk, which must be put on the glue. We make the third hole through - parallel to the second, at a depth of 5-6 cm. A fitting will be inserted into it to the middle, so this part will be expanded to its size. On the other side of this hole, we will make a trigger - a screw.

We fill the upper part of the vertical hole on the bar with hot glue. We insert both fittings into the bottle: one into the bottom, and the second into the cork. Glued for tightness. Then we screw the fitting coming from the neck into the proper place on the bar. Next, cut out a strip of rubber and screw a screw into it. Then we insert the screw opposite the screwed fitting and firmly glue the rubber strip. Everything - the gun is ready.

To shoot, we insert a bullet into the muzzle and slightly push it with something long and narrow (for example, a barbecue skewer). We pump air into the bottle, aim, press the screw and shoot.

From the pump

Option 1. We disassemble the bicycle pump, and as a result we get two metal tubes, the diameter of which is different. Now we take a camera (from a bicycle) and cut it into long strips 1 cm wide. Now we wrap the tube, which is thinner (the trunk), with such a strip, stuffing it tightly into a thicker tube. Can be coated with glue. We cut out the base of the pistol of a convenient shape from wood, attaching our design to it. Then we make a wooden piston (according to the size of a thick tube), nail 3 or 4 felt wads to it. Lubricate the inside of the tube and felt with grease.

Option homemade gun from the pump

We bend the nail, setting it at the base of the shutter (in the cocked state). To keep the shutter, we make ledges in the back of the piston and in the box. We stretch the rubber bands from the front of the pistol to the bolt. By pressing the trigger, we release the tightly stretched rubber pushing the piston. The bullet flies out. One charge - one shot.

Option 2. Here the device is more difficult - in addition to the base of the bicycle pump, you will need another pump - for pumping. You will also need a valve from a fire extinguisher - experts say that the best ZPU (lock-and-start device) does not exist in nature. For reference: a ball valve or a tee from metal-plastic pipes can also be used in this capacity (it will have to be somewhat converted).

We take a tube from a bicycle pump, cut it to the desired length and connect it to the fire extinguisher valve. Lubricate all connections with glue. We make a tap with a metal corner (for plastic pipes) to the barrel - a thinner tube. It is attached above the tube from the pump, and the valve from the fire extinguisher will be at the back. This valve has a thread on the side into which we screw the nipple. We attach a compact plastic pump here - we will fix it on the side (by wrapping it with electrical tape) and we will pump the gun with it. Done - you can shoot.

From a toy gun

Many children's pistols sold today look quite decent - they are very similar to real ones. But they cannot boast of fighting strength and power - this is understandable, because they are intended for children. With some upgrades, you can get a good pneumatic "gun" that will look more decent than the "plumbing" weapons.

What is good about a children's pistol as a basis is that it already has a trigger system, with which the craftsmen have to fool around most of all, bending the trigger from a nail or electrode, and constructing the shutter from a window latch. If we are only going to improve its "stuffing", then we take a screwdriver and disassemble the weapon. First you need to work with the spring (as already mentioned, children's pistols are of the PPP type). Let's replace it with a more powerful one - the speed of the bullet will immediately increase.

Now a cylinder with a piston - in children's pistols they are often plastic. If they are replaced with metal ones, then it will be possible to shoot not with light plastic balls, but with something heavier. Next - we modernize the barrel, increasing its length and selecting the diameter for the caliber of the bullet. But still, it will not be possible to greatly increase the power in this way - the volume of the cylinder does not allow. It is more effective to remake a children's machine gun in this way.

If the body of the pistol is made of flimsy plastic, then it is better not to try to upgrade it - it will break. Or you need to come up with something to strengthen it. But it is still preferable to remake metal weapons.

We comply with security measures

Let it seem like a homemade gun as a harmless (and sometimes funny) toy. However, with careless handling, he can do troubles, which you can’t fix later. So remember a few simple things:

  • Do not carry an air gun in your pocket- someone may think this is suspicious, and he will call the police. Or he wants to take it away.

The only option is pneumatics, but the prices for pneumatics are high. Although the principle of its action is very simple. Today I will show you how to make a simple air rifle. Well, it cannot be called a full-fledged pneumatic, it is an experimental model to show how pneumatic weapons work. I made this homemade product from unnecessary trash that I found in the barn. I do not bear any responsibility, only you are responsible for all your actions. Although this is a fart (let's call it that), you still need to be careful. Well, let's get started.

To make this homemade product, we need











1. Stainless steel pipe (I decided to make the rifle heavier, but you can choose PVC pipe or something else)
2. Faucet (you can also use a PVC faucet)
3. Adapter and found a device in the barn, I don’t know why. This device is made of two couplings and two adapters from the hose to the faucet. You can use something else.
4. Nut
5. Sealant

Step 1. Fasten the bottle to the adapter
















At this stage, you need to fix the bottle cap on the adapter. You need to fasten it so that air does not flow anywhere. First, I made a gasket from the camera, put it on the adapter, on top of it another factory gasket (I found only one factory gasket, so I had to make another from the camera). We make a hole on the lid and put it on the adapter. We tighten the gasket and tighten the cover with a bolt. We make a hole in the bottle and glue the nickel on the inside, and glue the gasket to the top. The gasket should be pressed tightly against the nipple. Then we drive the adapter into the coupling with a hammer.

Step 2. Barrel






Now it remains to make the trunk. A stainless steel pipe was used for the barrel. I used another faucet with a tube welded on the end. This tube fit almost perfectly into the stainless steel tube. I applied sealant to the faucet tube and drove the tube into the pipe. The barrel is ready, now it remains to connect both parts (barrel and bottle) and fasten the faucet, as seen in the photo.

Can air produce a significant effect?

For example, we need to blow off a stack of books with air from our lungs ( by the way a wonderful item to bet with friends).

No matter how much you try, this task for a person (supermen and other superheroes does not count) is impossible. No matter how much we blow, the books will lie in place. But what if we cheat a little and put an ordinary balloon under a stack of books and blow air into it. You will notice that without the slightest effort our books will rise above the table. And we used all the same air from our lungs ( you can proudly emerge from the dispute as a winner).

The difference lies in the fact that in the second case, we locked our air in a limited space and did not allow it to spread in all directions. And when the air has nowhere to go, it starts to work like a spring.

Such a compressed state of air and gas is studied by pneumatics. Pneumatics(from Greek. breath, puff) - a branch of physics, dedicated to mechanisms and devices that use the difference in gas pressure for their work.

Pneumatic mechanisms are found all around us. These are brakes in buses, trolleybuses and trucks, these are doors in the same buses (did you hear how compressed air hisses when opened ?!), these are jackhammers that make holes in the asphalt ...

So in this article we will tell and show how to make a real pneumatic gun with our own hands - a compressed air gun.

What is this gun capable of? We look:

Materials:

plastic bottle 1.5 l.;

bicycle nipple;

plumbing adapter with a tap (from ¾ inch to ½ inch), coupling (¾ inch), metal-plastic pipe segment 70 cm (½ inch diameter), sealing tape.

The last picture shows alternative parts (we did not have them at the beginning) that are also great for our case (adapter with a ½ to 3/4 tap and a ¾ female threaded coupling).

Equipment:


superglue, nail or screw with a wide head, scissors, burner, knife, pliers, gas wrench, file.

Step 1.

We cut the thread from the bottle with a knife. We cut off the rest with a file or sandpaper.

Step 2

With a screw with a wide head heated on the fire of an alcohol stove (or gas stove), we melt a hole in the bottom of the bottle.


Step 3

We cut off the nipple from the old bicycle tube and insert it into the hole in the bottom of the bottle from the inside. For this:

  1. We thread the thread through the holes of the bottle through and through.
  2. At the end of the thread we tie our nipple, and pull at the other end.
  3. In this way, you can easily thread the nipple from the inside of the bottle.

Step 4

Glue the nipple to the bottle with superglue. The main thing is ---- to ensure 100% tightness of the gluing, otherwise we will not be able to pump the bottle up to sufficient pressure for us.

To improve gluing, you can pre-clean the hole in the bottom with a file from the outer and inner sides, get rid of burrs, glue a rubber washer cut from the same old bicycle chamber (both inside and out); you can use a sealant or hot melt adhesive; and you can combine it all.

Remember the tightness and rigidity of the structure so that our nipple does not come off when the pump is connected.

Step 5

We wind the sleeve on the neck of the bottle by ¾ inch. Because the neck of the bottle is plastic, it lends itself quite well to winding without pre-threading. We tighten the coupling until it stops in the outer rim of the neck. If necessary, use a gas key.

Step 6

We screw our crane into the second end of the coupling. We pre-seal the faucet threads with a plumbing sealing tape. (You can seal in any other way convenient for you).

Let me remind you once again that the tightness of the structure is very important for us.

Step 7

We wind a piece of metal-plastic pipe with a diameter of ½ inch onto the tap thread. The thread may not be pre-cut, because. the plastic inside the pipe can easily be screwed tightly onto the tap thread itself.

We took a piece of pipe 70 cm in length.

Step 8

Our air gun is ready! We enjoy the fruits of our labor and prepare for trials.

To test an airgun, we need:

1) a pump (preferably with a pressure gauge to control the pressure in the bottle),

2) projectiles (paintballs, fruits, vegetables, water, paper balls ... whatever).

Instructions for use:

  1. We close the tap.
  2. We pump air into the bottle up to 3-4 atmospheres. Be careful not to overfill the bottle. (At a pressure of 6 atmospheres, my bottle exploded.)
  3. We charge the gun with our projectile through the muzzle.
  4. We aim and shoot, abruptly opening the tap.

Attention! Perform all actions with compressed air under adult supervision!

Do not point at people or animals!
